Hi everyone,

We found little Missy, the sweetest rainbow lorikeet, on the side of the road—scared, unable to fly, and in real danger of being hit by a car. It was clear right away that she wasn’t a wild bird. She was super affectionate, tame, and clearly someone’s pet.

We took her in and did everything we could to find her owner: posting in countless Facebook groups, putting up signs in the area—but sadly, no one came forward:( So we made the decision to keep her and give her a safe, loving home with us. She’s already part of the family.<3

We brought her to the vet to make sure she was okay, and while she’s cheerful, playful, and full of personality during the day, we noticed that she twitches a lot and has “little seizures” (we don’t know what to call them) when she’s tired. After some tests, the vet discovered she has kidney issues and may be suffering from lead poisoning. She needs hospital care as soon as possible.

We’ve already spent $500 on the initial vet visit and blood tests. Now we’re facing:

$800 for two nights of hospital observation and a lead test

$600 for X-rays

Additional costs depending on her diagnosis and treatment plan
