Help us save Julek

Hi. My name is Barbara Emkow and I am raising funds for my nephew in Poland.

Julek Szoka is two years and five months old. He lives in Poland. A year ago, he was diagnosed with cancer - Stage IV Neuroblastoma. Since diagnosis there has been a constant fight for his life. He currently stays at the Children's Memorial Health Institute (Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka) in Warsaw far from his home, where he is subjected to very complicated treatment procedures. He endures it bravely as if he understands that he is fighting for the highest stakes - his own life. He has undergone surgery to remove the tumor along with the adrenal gland, long-term devastating chemotherapy, stem cell transplant, radiation therapy and many other procedures performed under general anesthesia. He is currently undergoing immunotherapy, which is the last stage of treatment available in Poland.

In order to successfully complete treatment and prevent recurrence of the disease, further very expensive medical therapy is required. This treatment will take place in the United States of America in New York’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/clinical-trials/21-206 Treatment is tentatively scheduled for April 2022.

This is why I am asking all my friends and strangers, people with open hearts who understand the drama of a young child and his devoted family for help and support. When this treatment is successful, I would like my nephew to enjoy a healthy and joyful life.
