Our beloved Jojo, born on May 20th, 2023, is now 2 1/2 years old – still a young bunny with so much life ahead of him. He has always been gentle, curious and incredibly social, and during his first summer he loved going outside with us. The outdoor photos of him are all from before he became sick.

Jojo’s swelling under his chin began to develop when he was about one year old. At that time, we took him to a veterinarian who told us that the lump was simply fat and that Jojo was “just a bit chubby.” Following that advice, we put him on a diet.

But very quickly we noticed something was wrong – Jojo lost weight everywhere except in the exact spot where the swelling was. The lump remained unchanged, even as the rest of his body became thinner. That’s when we started to realize it wasn’t fat at all.

Recently, Jojo developed an open sore under his chin, and we immediately brought him to a new veterinarian. This vet examined him carefully and told us that the sore was caused by the swelling itself – and that the previous vet had been mistaken. Jojo never had fat under his chin. Instead, this swelling is something completely different that needs proper medical investigation.

Because the condition has been present for so long, our insurance company considers it a pre-existing issue and refuses to cover any part of his treatment.

Jojo now needs X-rays and further medical diagnostics to figure out exactly what this swelling is and surgery to then remove it! Without this, the sore will continue to worsen and the swelling will continue to affect his daily life. He can’t even go outside anymore because the swelling makes it impossible to place a harness on him.

He is only 2 years old. He should not have to live with pain, discomfort or uncertainty at su

ch a young age.

The estimated cost for his X-rays and surgery and is around 10,000 SEK. This is a heavy cost for us to manage on our own, which is why we are asking for help.
