This last January my dad wasn't feeling that good. It all started with an apparent problem in his lower back that with time didn't allowed him to walk properly and affected his regular process of urinating and getting read of his body waste due to severe pain. At some point in mid February dad couldn't walk, experiencing a lot of pain in his right leg. Things got really worst and we decided to go for more medical exams.
We discovered that dad had prostate cancer and two tumors inside of him. These tumors where growing and the cancer was already spreading around.
After almost a month of very intense pain and a restricted life, the cancer spread (did metastasis) towards the right femur and lower back. One day, trying to come out of the bathtub, dad broke the neck of the femur and also a vertebrae from the lower back, as the bones were weak due to the intense death of mother cells.
Due to the Venezuelan crisis there are no medicines in the country to treat him. We have had to look for these medicines abroad or in the black market (because of the grave urgency of the case), paying in some occasions even 10 times their actual value, plus shipping costs. For example, a medicine that should be provided by public health care or that in any case would have costed around 100€, costed 520€ (Zometa 4mg).
As many of you know, I'm the only one of the family outside the country that makes a 'sustainable' income (if it's that there is something like that for an artist). For the last year an a half it has been a challenge with no precedents to be the one taking responsability for a dignified life for my family (and with this I mean that they have a least what to eat and that my grandparents have the medicines they need).
The treatment of my dad has demanded over 3000€ in the last two months. All my income is going into this and I start to get debts, the situation overcomes me as I don't have more resources and have spent all my savings. My brother Brick Raul had to leave the country some months ago, because the situation there didn't allow him anymore to take care of his family and and the education of his kids. After a forced migration he's struggling to stabilise himself in Portugal. As he cannot get a regular job, he is working really hard all day long in different small jobs; he barely manages to make enough money to give something to eat to his family, which makes things hard. He has found medicines in Portugal. In Venezuela, Yralyz, the wife of my brother, takes care of all the financial matters, contacting doctors, taking my dad to the clinic with the ambulance. My aunt Malí is helping us with a herb and organic treatment done in Argentina that helps to counteracts the Chemotherapy effects. My mom looks for medicines nationwide and collects those that come from outside. My dad's girlfriend is the only one that has the space to take care of him fully. We are a team.
My brother and I are doing our best to help as we are the only ones outside, but we don't manage because of our political situation and the fact that before anything our families need to have something to take into their mouths. It sounds dramatic but it is, and whoever is connected to the Venezuelan reality knows what I'm talking about.

HE NEEDS TO MOVE! We also need to complete his medical treatment and repair his lower back.
I want you to imagine how much is to get diapers on a daily bases in a country where the inflation is over 2.300.000% (yes, over two million percent), where to buy enough food for a couple of days costs three times your actual salary. We need many things for sustaining my dad and it becomes a challenge to provide them daily with these high rates. The budget we propose here is ILLUSORY compared with the amount of money we really need and with the inflation that keeps on going (imagine to pay a piece of bread for 0,50€ today and the next day to pay 3€ for the same thing).

Después de casi un mes de dolor muy intenso y una vida restringida, el cáncer se propagó (hizo metástasis) hacia el fémur derecho y la parte inferior de la espalda. Un día, tratando de salir de la bañera, mi papá se rompió el cuello del fémur y también una vértebra en la parte inferior de la espalda, ya que los huesos estaban débiles debido a la intensa muerte de las células madre.
Debido a la crisis venezolana no hay medicamentos en el país para tratarlo. Hemos tenido que buscar estos medicamentos en el extranjero o en el mercado negro (debido a la gran urgencia del caso), pagando en algunas ocasiones incluso hasta 10 veces su valor real, más los costos de envío. Por ejemplo, un medicamento que debería ser proporcionado via atención médica pública o que en cualquier caso hubiera costado alrededor de 100 €, tuvo un costo de 520 € (Zometa 4mg).
Como muchos de ustedes saben, soy el único de la familia fuera del país que genera un ingreso 'sostenible' (si es que existe un termino así para un artista). Durante el último año y medio ha sido un desafío sin precedentes ser el responsable de una vida digna para mi familia (y con esto quiero decir que tengan al menos qué comer y que mis abuelos tengan las medicinas que necesitan).
El tratamiento de mi padre ha exigido más de 3000 € en los últimos dos meses. Todos mis ingresos se destinan a esto y empiezo a generar deudas, la situación me supera ya que no tengo más recursos y he gastado todos mis ahorros. Mi hermano Brick Raul tuvo que abandonar el país hace unos meses, porque la situación allí ya no le permitía cuidar más de su familia y de la educación de sus hijos. Después de una migración forzada, está luchando por estabilizarse en Portugal. Como no puede conseguir un trabajo regular, está trabajando muy duro todo el día en diferentes trabajos pequeños; apenas logra ganar suficiente dinero para darle algo de comer a su familia, lo que dificulta las cosas. El ha conseguido lagunas de las medicinas en Portugal. En Venezuela, Yralyz, la esposa de mi hermano, se ocupa de todos los asuntos financieros, se comunica con los médicos y lleva a mi papá a la clínica con la ambulancia. Mi tía Malí nos está ayudando con un tratamiento orgánico de hierbas hecho en Argentina, que ayuda a contrarrestar los efectos de la quimioterapia. Mi mamá busca las medicinas a nivel nacional y recoge las que vienen desde afuera. La novia de mi papá es la única que tiene el espacio para cuidarlo completamente. Somos un equipo.
Mi hermano y yo estamos haciendo todo lo posible por ayudar, ya que somos los únicos que estamos afuera, pero no nos la arreglamos debido a nuestra situación política y al hecho de que antes que nada, nuestras familias deben tener algo que llevarse a la boca. - Otros medicamentos para estabilizar el cuerpo, evitar el dolor y el deterioro: Tadafilo 5mg, Bicalutamida 50mg, Tamsulosina 0,4mg
- Pañales (diariamente).
- Supositorios (diariamente).
- Reemplazo de catéter cada 15 días + honorarios médicos.
- Honorarios médicos para inyecciones de un tratamiento supresor hormonal especial (no se puede inyectar en casa, es necesario que lo haga un médico).
- Segunda ronda de rayos X y biopsia para comprender la evolución de la fractura después de la operación y la evolución del cáncer.
