Hi,
We’re fundraising for our beloved dog Choccy, a gentle, loving 6-year-old cockapoo who recently faced the fight of his life. What began as sudden and severe illness led to the devastating diagnosis of Addison’s disease — a rare but life-threatening condition that, if untreated, can be fatal within hours.
Choccy was rushed into emergency care after refusing to eat for 5 days. We thought it was a case of food poisoning but the vet thought it escalated to something in his stomach that needed operating. He was rushed to surgery where we nearly lost him for the first time as he was put under general anaesthetic. His blood pressure blew and he wasn't able to handle the stress in his weak state.
From there, he was rushed to ICU at The Ralph Veterinary Referral Centre where he was placed under a deep sleep and his breathing needed help through a ventilator system. After 1.5 days, his breathing collapsed due to blood clots in his little lungs, he spent seven days in intensive care, which included the four days on a ventilator system.
We were told multiple times to prepare for the worst, but somehow, through sheer strength and with the help of an incredible veterinary team, he pulled through. He’s a little warrior, and we are endlessly grateful to still have him with us.
Sadly, this miracle and his second chance at life has came at an overwhelming cost. His life-saving treatment which is still an ongoing process is extraordinarily expensive. Unfortunately, our pet insurance only covers a small fraction and now we’re facing a massive amount of debt that we weren’t prepared for. We would give anything to keep Choccy here, he needs lifelong medication, monitoring, and regular vet visits to manage his condition.
We’re doing everything we can, but we’ve reached a point where we need help or even a share so people can be aware of Addison's disease as it is quite common in poodle breeds.
If you’re able to contribute anything — even a few pounds — it would go directly toward Choccy’s medical care and long-term treatment. We understand if you can’t donate so even sharing this page with others who may be able to help would be appreciated. Every little bit brings us one step closer to giving Choccy the healthy, happy life he deserves.
Choccy is more than just a pet — he’s our son, family, sunshine and best friend. Thank you for reading his story and for being part of his journey.
With all our love and gratitude,
