Help Us Save Benny the Donkey
Hi, my name is Payton. Two weeks ago, I brought home a one and a half year old donkey from an auction and named him Benjamin—Benny for short. I got him with two goals in mind: to train him as a calming companion for my horses, and to finally fulfill my mom’s lifelong dream of owning a donkey.
It was a complete surprise when I pulled into the driveway with Benny. But the moment I unloaded him from the trailer, my mom’s eyes lit up. She was instantly in love. From that day forward, Benny became part of our family.
On July 11th, everything changed. We noticed Benny struggling to breathe and rushed him to our local emergency vet hospital. The diagnosis: severe pneumonia caused by a secondary infection. The vets told us it wasn’t something we could have easily caught—donkeys are incredibly stoic, and Benny had been hiding how sick he really was.
When we discussed his treatment plan, the vet estimated a minimum cost of $3,000, but warned it could go as high as $5,000. That’s a lot for our family. We’re not ones to ask for help, but this time is different. Benny means the world to us—especially to my mom. He’s her pride and joy.
It breaks our hearts to know that Benny’s future depends on money. So we’re asking: if you're able, please consider donating. Even the smallest amount can make a difference. Your kindness could help give Benny the chance to live the long, happy life he deserves.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
