Help us save Abandoned Animals

Hi everyone! I’m Ginger. I’m a single mom in Crosby Tx and I’ve been rescuing dogs who were dumped on my street. In June and July I rescued 8 dogs who people abandoned near me. Our street is tucked in the woods and rural, so it’s a perfect place for desperate people to leave dogs without being seen. The last two months it’s been over 100 degrees more days than it has been under and these dogs were suffering from heat exhaustion, dehydration, and starvation. One momma was dumped with 5 newborn puppies, not yet weened. Two of them died that first week. It was heartbreaking. They had blisters from the hot pavement, and I just didn’t get to them in time. One lucky puppy found a good home, so now I’m down to 2 puppies, a momma, and one other adult female, who just walked up and moved in with us. Lol All told, I have 7 dogs! Three of the were rescued over the last few years and are part of the family. The others need to find their forever homes. I have also rescued several momma cats and their kittens, over the last few years. We find homes for them as we can, but normally, no one wants to adopt the older momma cats, so they live with us now too. We have 6 cats, currently. It’s a very full house! I have a good job, but I can not afford to get these babies to the vet, and the food bill is overwhelming at times. What I really need is a fenced in yard. If I had a safe place for the dogs to be, that is not in a crate in my living room, it would go a long way towards helping us to manage them all. I’m not going to abandon them, I’m going to keep trying to get them to good homes, but I need a better situation for them in the meantime. I would also love to buy a shed for the cats, with an AC unit, and a catio. They could be safe, live comfortably, and we could all enjoy life a bit more. This is just wishful thinking, but if I had a fence and a good step up, I can keep helping babies in need. Find homes, rescue more, rinse and repeat, you know?
