Help us keep our Toy Store stay afloat!
Help us make it through these uncertain times by making a contribution of any size to keep our store afloat. Our names are Mauricio and Angela Romy, we are the proud owners of Happki, a specialty toy store focused on educational, skill-building, and creativity toys. Our philosophy is that children learn most of their basic life skills through play. Thus, we work hard to curate an inventory of toys that aid in children’s development. In April 2019, after nearly two years of working on this project, we launched our online store. More so, our goal was to have a physical location. In early November 2019, we happily opened the doors to our retail location. Our customers are amazing, they go above and beyond to support us, and we are immensely thankful for them. Going to work every day is that much easier when your community wants to shop at your business. We have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this journey and hope to be around for years to come.
As small business owners, nothing could have ever prepared us for something like this. We adjusted quickly to doing everything we could to stay afloat by taking phone orders, making local deliveries, and fulfilling online orders. However, Illinois governor Pritzker has just announced a “STAY AT HOME” order that will begin tomorrow March 21st until April 7th. The governor added that it’s possible it will be extended.
This is a dire situation for us and for many small businesses across the nation. We kindly ask you to consider supporting your local restaurants, cafes, dog daycares, ice cream stores, etc. One way you can help them is by buying gift certificates to use later when we are past this. We know large companies will be bailed out. But will your favorite toy store, dog daycare, or ice cream shop be bailed out? Probably not. Sadly, small business owners are the ones who end up losing the most. Our businesses are our bread and butter. If we don’t have customers walking through our doors it means we can’t provide for our families. If we don’t get the support we need it will force many of us to go out of business and potentially lose a lot more.
As a thank you for your support we will send you a gift certificate in the amount of your donation for our store via email. Feel free to use this certificate on yourself, or gift them to friends, neighbors, a parent in need, or organizations of your choice. Can’t think of someone, we will gladly offer suggestions or make the donation in your name.
We thank you wholeheartedly for reading and supporting a small business.
