Our names are George and Shayla, and we are proud parents in recovery, committed to building a healthy, stable life for our family. On February 8, 2023, we both made the choice to turn our lives around. Today, we have over 3 years clean, and every day since has been about accountability, growth, and showing up as Daddy and Mommy the way our children deserve.
We are both very active in recovery. I (George) work as a recovery support specialist, and Shayla—my wife—also went to school to become an RSS. She is now furthering her education and is close to completing her Bachelor’s in Social Work, which is why I am currently the only income for our family. Supporting others on their journey has deepened our commitment to living with honesty and hope.
We are currently fighting to reunite with our daughter, Clover. She deserves consistent love, support, and the presence of both her biological parents—and we are ready to be there for her. The next step in this process is crucial: hiring a Guardian ad Litem (GAL). The GAL will evaluate the situation and make a recommendation to the court regarding what’s best for Clover. She cannot begin her work or interview anyone until the retainer is paid.
