Salam this is me Sawsan and I go by sisinia , Iam master graduate from American univeristy in Turkey .
This fundraising page is created with the help of our first Canadian cousin who lives in Montreal .
It's a matter of life or death for our family. They have lost everything, and the only thing they can hold onto is their lives, after exhausting all other options. Time is running out to save them .
But first and foremost , let me introduce my mom as she is a teacher who is going to tell you what's happened to us in details .
Peace be upon you , Iam um Mohammed , am working as Arabic teacher .
I live in Gaza with my family . We used to have a happy life in our cozy home, with a car that took us wherever we needed to go. But one day, everything changed. Our home shook violently, and chaos erupted.
We've been forced to displace
We received urgent messages to flee because our neighborhood had become a battleground. I gathered my terrified children and elderly relatives, and we ran for our lives.
It's happened more than once, each time leaving us more broken and abandoned.
As of the last october 2023 , We left the city without luggage because time passes quickly according to the threats, otherwise, we will all die. I don't know where to go; not all areas are safe.
Our journey was arduous. The walk was long.
Immense challanges we face everyday
Our feet settled next to one of the houses, and we made a tent out of sticks, worn-out bedding, and nylon, which did not protect us from the heat of summer or the cold of winter and did not contain the minimum necessities of life.
We were asking people to provide us with bedding, some clothes, and water because we did not take anything with us. We tried to keep going.
We were so close to death for many time!
A week passed, and the situation got worse with the onset of darkness and the sound of terror. We were startled from our sleep by the sound of rubble falling on our sad tent, which had become with everyone in it under rubble as a result of the bombing of one of the neighboring houses. Dust covered the place due to the bombing. There was a large pile of stones on top of my husband, which I was unable to lift. I started screaming; my husband died."
In that date my family members got injuries. and one of them got a tumor, the nature of which is unknown because of the scarcity of medical material.
The young men gathered and carried him, along with my daughter and her husband, who were covered in blood. I was on edge, anxiously waiting for news and checking on them at the hospital. Communication was impossible, as it was completely cut off due to the enemy's actions. Eventually, one of my husband’s friends from the neighborhood arrived with him in the ambulance, informing us that he was okay but unable to raise his hands. I thanked God that he was in good condition. The continuous bombings, explosions, and screams from neighbors urging us to flee because of imminent attacks on houses, bakeries, or mosques have taken a toll on the mental state of my sons and daughters.
We are exhausted from constantly seeking refuge in supposed safe areas, though there seems to be no truly safe place.
Our houses have become not suitable for living as you can see in the pictures below .
Before
After
Most of my family members have lost half of their body weight since they had to flee their house and become homeless.
They are currently drinking tainted water and eat whatever is available.
My grandsons have contracted hepatitis, and the babies developed rashes and fell ill during the winter.
The influenza virus spread rapidly in the crowded tent due to the lack of warm water for bathing and the absence of electricity.
We rely on food aid from charities to satisfy the children's hunger, as we have no money left due to the high prices of food.
I had to go market by horse cart as this is the only transporation herr .
The bombings caused my eldest and middle sons to have immense sorrow instead of joy.
My youngest son is struggling emotionally after abandoning his nursing studies at the university, which was also bombed. He dreams of studying abroad, but even the children's schools have been targeted by bombings. And Sawsan has lost her first term in P.h.D degree abroad as she's become stuck in Gaza strip .
And our income source of livelihood has been destroyed. I worked hard as a teacher, saving every penny for 30 years. Eventually, I and my family opened a store , it is called Juliet Center for wedding dressess , where we rented out wedding dresses and shipped . It was a bright spot in our community, bringing joy to many.
It has cost us more everything
Here the photos of the wedding dresses store before and after .they paid the rent of the store before the first day of crisis
After
Here Iam again , Sawsan
We have been forced to evacuate several times due to the threat of bombings, moving from western Gaza to southern Gaza, from hospitals to schools, and even to the streets.
Some of them are currently on the streets and in tents, facing a tragic situation.
My family is ver well educated , my mom is a teacher at primary school , she's lost her job and most of her students have been killed , me having master degree in Business management with high honors , I lost my P.h.D first term after being stuck in Gaza , my middle sister has B A degree in primary education . The youngest sister has BA in health management , my eldest brother had BA in general management and youngest brother is still nursing student level 1 , he has lost his last year to graduate after they bombed the university , the ripple effects of this crsiss have reach out to all my nephews and nieces who are still primary students and lost their school studies and the joy of playing with their peers .
Our situation worsens day by day as we count the minutes until we can escape Gaza.
My brother's wife is about to give birth to their daughter in a few days, suffering from severe anemia.
-as for health condition of my father , here is the urgent appeal of my mom (my husband is the most important thing in my life and my support has become paralyzed. He cannot raise his hands to eat or wear his clothes. He needs a transfer to hospitals outside Gaza and there is not enough money to treat him)
This is our only chance to survive and I humbly seek your assistance now more than ever.
How the funds will be used for ?
Regrettably, we lack the funds needed for transportation, travel visas, and temporary lodging, like a hotel in Egypt until we secure a suitable home. Here are the expected expenses:
- Passport fees and document translation: Approximately $200 per person.
- Egyptian coordination fees: Between $5000 and $7000 per person(17adult) 2500(6kids)
Transaction fee of 2.9% + £0.25 deducted automatically from each donation. Roughly deducted $4000 from our total target.
- Temporary accommodation costs: Around $10,000 for basic living expenses and a temporary home until we stabilize and find work.
- Completing Ahmed's and me university studies and covering the school fees for the four grandsons.
- Cover the treatment for my father and for other three of family members who have health problems need urgent medical internvention
- Initiating a fresh small business .
We understand that times are challenging for everyone, but we believe that together, we can make a difference. Every dollar counts, every act of kindness reverberates far beyond our imagination. Stand with us as we strive to reunite our family and rebuild what was lost.
Your generosity will not only save lives but also restore faith in humanity, one act of kindness at a time.
