Years ago, our friend and host, Uncle Tim, visited Poenari Castle in Romania—the fortress most closely associated with Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure who inspired the legend of Dracula. Like many tourists, Tim wanted a souvenir to remember his trip. Unlike most tourists, he brought home an actual brick from the castle. At the time, it seemed harmless enough. Just a piece of history. A conversation piece. A story to tell. But over the years, Tim began to wonder if bringing that brick home had been a mistake. Strange events, unexplained hardships, and a series of unfortunate circumstances affecting both Tim and members of his family have led him to ask a question he never expected to ask: 'What if the locals were right?' During our investigation into the history of Poenari Castle, we learned that many local residents regard the fortress with a mixture of pride, respect, and caution. Some believe certain things are meant to remain where they belong. Whether you believe in curses, coincidence, bad luck, or simply respecting historical sites, Tim has decided it's time to do what he should have done years ago. Return the brick. Our goal is to raise enough money to safely transport Tim and the brick back to Romania, document the journey, and return the brick to Poenari Castle where it came from. Along the way, we'll share the experience with our audience and explore the history, legends, and mysteries surrounding one of Romania's most fascinating locations. Will returning the brick change anything? We honestly don't know. But sometimes making things right is reason enough. Thank you for helping us close a chapter that began many years ago on a mountainside in Romania. — Uncle Tim, Papa Joey, and the Out There! Community
