My mom recently moved in with me and my son, who stays with us on weekends. We were doing our best to adjust to the new living situation, and my mom was helping out by taking care of the power bill. Unfortunately, there was a mix-up—her payments were accidentally applied to an old power bill that was still linked to my number. We didn’t realize what had happened until we suddenly found ourselves sitting in the dark, with no time to prepare. We reached out to Duke Energy for help, but they weren’t able to offer any assistance. We’ve tried everything we can think of, but we’re now at a point where we need help from our community.
The most urgent concern is my mom’s health. She relies on a breathing machine every day, and she hasn’t been able to use it for a week now. It’s been incredibly stressful and scary, not knowing how we’ll get the power back on and keep her safe. The funds we’re asking for will go directly to Duke Energy to restore our electricity, so we can stay warm and make sure my mom’s health is stable.
