My name is PJ, and I am reaching out during one of the most difficult times my family and I have ever faced. Last week, my dear friend, who had lived in our home’s in-law suite since 2017, tragically took his own life in his bedroom. The aftermath has left us not only grieving the sudden loss of someone we considered extended family, but also struggling with the practical and emotional challenges that followed. The mattress in the room is contaminated and must be removed, and the area requires professional biohazard cleaning. His personal belongings need to be respectfully cleared out and hauled away, and the entire space must be thoroughly cleaned and repainted before it can be used again. As a 75-year-old on a fixed income, I simply do not have the resources to cover the thousands of dollars needed for this urgent cleanup and restoration.

Having the space cleaned and restored as soon as possible is essential for my family’s healing. We hope to use the suite as a low-cost rental for friends in our community who are struggling to find affordable housing.
