Help us save crumbling historical building

Situated deep in the English garden, on the grounds of Skebo Herrgård (Skebo Manor, built in 1770) in Roslagen, Sweden, perched up on a hill with a fantastic view of the lake sits this beautiful (well, it once was at least) Swiss-inspired little building. In the 19th century, it was a kind of café that served pastries and alcohol. The Swedish term “Schweizeri”, or “Swiss Villa” as it is sometimes called, was created when immigrant Swiss confectioners in the early 19th century established drinking establishments in Sweden where they served coffee, tea, chocolate and liqueur. Many manor houses throughout Sweden had their own, often located in an adjoining English park. Skebo Manoris no exception.

For decades, however, this poor little building has unfortunately had to endure rough weather, falling trees and the absence of any love or attention from previous owners of Skebo Manor. When we bought Skebo Manor some 3.5 years ago, the building was already in dilapidated condition unfortunately and we vowed to someday restore the building to its former glory.

With that said, we are determined not to let this beautiful place fall apart! It must be preserved and restored for every reason imaginable; historical preservation, building conservation and education and public accessibility ❤️ Imagine the possibilities of e.g. once again being able to offer the public a summer cafe experience in an English garden setting, or as a venue for wedding ceremonies. The list goes on!

However, we can’t do this without you and we hope that you are willing and able to support or efforts and life journey of preserving and maintaining Skebo Manor and its beautiful grounds for everyone to enjoy, and for future generations. We are a family of four, with two small chidren, doing our best to take care of this historical site.
