This is Monkey (Licky) and Fox (Waggy). 

We found them when we first came to Panglao near to our accommodation. We fell in love with their kind temperament quickly, and even more once they got comfortable enough to play and cuddle with us! We visited them every day to feed them and check on their condition until we could finally take them to our accommodation  to live with us. It has been a long and arduous journey so far, full of highs and lows and a very big surprise…

Fox was pregnant! She gave birth to two puppies - a boy and a girl who we’ve named Bear and Otter. 

Both Monkey and Fox were diagnosed with blood parasites. They had mange, were malnourished, and Fox’s pregnancy took its toll on her. We had to do a six week course of medication for both the adult dogs, and when the puppies were 5 weeks we went to get them tested. It was possible that they had contracted the blood parasites in the womb, and unfortunately the vet confirmed they had. 

We are now in the middle of the puppies’ treatment for the parasites. Along the way, we found another puppy alone on a busy road and in extreme danger. We took her to the vet, who has kindly been looking after her. We are also in a highly populated area, where we are trying to help local strays with medicine and food where we can. 

The adult dogs have come so far, and the puppies are strong and fighting. They all need to be sterilised, vaccinated, and tested regularly to make sure their blood parasites are not returning. 

Vet visits are far from over, regular medication seems to be a part of our daily life for the foreseeable future, and eventually we need to be able to take the adult dogs with us. Potentially, we will take the puppies too if we cannot find a good home for them here. 

As you can imagine, this all adds up to big expenses. We are so, so grateful for any support that you can give - even 50p from you is a help towards their care and happy future! 

Cost Projections for both:

Vet bills -

Vet assessment = £5 each visit 

Monthly preventative treatment = £5.50 each 

Microchipping = £20 each 

Rabies vaccines = £20 each 

Other required vaccinations = £50 each 

Blood tests = £9 each time 

Tests to clear them for travel -

Rabies titre test (only necessary if going to the west) = £400 each 

Brucella canis test = £80 each 

Health certificate/vet endorsement = £120 each 

For travel to the west (this is our goal!) -

Agent and coordination fees = £700

Approved cargo crates = £150-£200 each

Cargo flight = £1000 each

Import clearance and handling on arrival = £200 each

We also are asking for a buffer, because nothing ever goes as expected! If we are lucky enough to make more than we need, the money will all go to them - either to vet bills, any rescue that takes them, or any ongoing cost of care.
