Since the earthquakes struck La Guaira, Venezuela, Mau Rescates has been working day and night to pull cats out of the rubble and collapsed buildings. Mau Rescates is an animal rescue team dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats affected by the disaster, and so far we have saved more than 50.

Beginning July 27th, demolition crews are going to use dynamite to demolish the damaged buildings. There are still cats hiding inside, unaware of what's coming. They won't come out on their own, and time is running out.

Goal: $7,500 USD

PHASE 1: Emergency Rescue ($2,500)

We already have temporary spaces but they need to be equipped to receive rescued cats as soon as possible. For this phase we need:

PHASE 2: The Permanent Shelter ($5,000)

Every cat we rescue needs somewhere to go but local shelters in the region are already full. There's simply no more room for the animals coming out of this crisis. That's why we're building our own shelter, with capacity for 30–50 cats, where they can recover, receive medical care, and wait to be adopted.

Any funds raised beyond our goal will go directly to ongoing care and future rescue missions.

Who is behind this?

I'm Estefan Rebolledo, a Venezuelan based in the United States, working directly with the rescue team on the ground. Due to the difficulties of receiving international donations directly in Venezuela, this campaign is being managed through my spouse's verified GoFundMe account, and every fund is transferred directly to the rescue team or used to buy the supplies they need.
