My name is Antony Njoroge, and I am a filmmaker from Nairobi, Kenya. This year, my team and I premiered THE CARETAKERS, a film exploring the powerful relationship between rangers and the Last Northern white rhinos, as well as other endangered species. The film has already received international recognition, winning Best Director at the Texas International Documentary Film Festival and earning an honorary mention from the Africa USA International Film Festival. Now, I have been invited to receive a Golden Leaves certificate at Cannes FIFI, which will take place from June 17-21, 2026, and to represent Kenyan filmmakers in a panel discussion.

This opportunity means the world to me and my talented cinematographer. After investing so much of our own resources into our latest documentary, THE AFTERLIFE OF WASTE—a film about the impact of fast fashion on Africa’s environment and textile industry—we are reaching out for support. Traveling to Cannes will allow us to connect with global filmmakers, share our stories, and launch impact campaigns for both films. For THE CARETAKERS, we are planning school screenings across Kenya to teach students about conservation, as well as a painting festival for conservation awareness. For THE AFTERLIFE OF WASTE, we hope to organize screenings across Africa, the USA, and Europe to raise awareness about the environmental impact of fast fashion.
