I’m reaching out today with a tough but important request.
As many of you know, we recently changed our hours to create a healthier life for our team and to ensure the longevity of our bakery. What you may not know is that one piece of our equipment is making that goal incredibly difficult: our slicer.
The machine we currently use is a 150-year-old antique, and it's on its last legs. Designed for soft, delicate bread, it struggles daily to cut through over 100 loaves of our signature crusty sourdough.
We're literally pushing each loaf through by hand, and have to wear safety glasses to protect our eyes from the crumbs that come flying at our faces.
The blades are dull, and our attempts to get them sharpened have failed.
This isn't just inefficient; it's a huge physical burden on our small team and a significant roadblock to our productivity.
Every day, we lose more than two hours to this one task.
This time could be spent baking more bread, developing new menu items, or just keeping up with the high demand for our delicious sourdough.
Instead, we're stuck in a cycle of struggling with this failing machine. Brad has "fixed" the antique countless times in ways that just hobble it along for a couple days before he has to figure out another quick fix.
While we can continue to offer whole loaves, the overwhelming majority of our customers prefer their bread pre-sliced, and we are fighting an uphill battle to keep up.
The simple truth is, we need a new slicer.
We've found a commercial-grade machine that is safe, efficient, and specifically designed to handle the dense, crusty sourdough you all love. This machine will not only make slicing our bread faster and safer but will also allow us to keep up with demand and free us up to expand our offerings.
The total cost is over $10,000 (waiting on the exact quote from the manufacturer), which is more than our small business can afford right now.
This is where we need your help. Our goal is to come up with $5,000 for a down payment (we are selling what we can to make extra money, and are increasing production as much as possible too).
With this deposit, we can secure the machine and finance the remaining balance through a rent-to-own program. This is our best option to get the equipment we desperately need.
Please, if you can, help us get this new slicer and continue to provide the quality and convenience you've come to expect.
We are so grateful for your support, and your love for our bread is what keeps us going.
Every single dollar brings us one step closer.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
