Help Us Replace Our 18-Year-Old Tour Van!

Saltworks Theatre Company performs original plays that educate, challenge, and inspire children and teens to make healthy choices. Our shows address various social issues, including drugs and alcohol, bullying, mental health, opioids and prescription drug misuse, in a relevant and authentic way.

We use our tour van to transport our five actors and tour equipment to schools all around the Pittsburgh area. Occasionally we travel to eastern PA, OH, WV, NY, and NJ, but 75% of our shows are performed in western PA. On average, we perform 100-120 shows per school year. We originally purchased our 2006 Ford E350 XLT for $31,000, brand new. This van has traveled 86,876 miles to help us perform 2,096 school assemblies for 376,798 students!

After 18 years of adventures, our tour van is in immediate need of extensive repairs. Given the age and current value, it would not be cost effective to continue to pay for repairs. If the van breaks down, we have to cancel shows which reduces our income and impact. And we hate to think about our young actors being stranded on the road somewhere if the van were to stop working en route!

We anticipate the cost of a new van to be $60,000, which would hopefully serve us for another 18 years. Any amount you can contribute will help us continue to positively impact schools and students through the power of live theater!
