Help Us Replace Everything They Stole

Hi, my name is Katie. My husband, Nick, and I decided to move from Arizona to Colorado to be closer to family. My dad passed away in December 2021, so I wanted to be surrounded by loved ones. Nick did everything in our power to make that happen. He took on extra work, so we could afford the deposit, Uhaul, and other moving costs. I am a disabled veteran, so I’m on a fixed income.
We booked the Uhaul and got our 3 bedroom house packed up. Crammed everything inside their largest truck. We had to tow Nick’s Jeep behind the truck while I followed behind in my car. We decided to book an air bnb in Albuquerque, so we could break the trip up. We would get some sleep and comfort and hit the road fresh the next morning.
We got to the air bnb late, probably around 2:30 am. We were exhausted from our drive and from packing everything up in the previous days. Nick parked the Uhaul with his Jeep attached right in front of the house. We made sure everything was locked and went to bed. When we got up at 8:00 am, the Uhaul and his Jeep were gone. Luckily, his Jeep has a tracking device. We were able to send the location to the police, and we were able to retrieve his car. Unfortunately, the Uhaul was not with it. We filed a police report, but it is unlikely they will find it. We lost everything. We are devastated beyond words.
Nick and I had to leave Albuquerque empty handed, so we could pick up our keys to our apartment. Now we have nothing but the stuff on our backs and an empty apartment to live in.
They took Nick’s laptop, computer monitors, and office equipment. Nick has his own web development company. It’s his livelihood. It’s how he pays the bills. Now he has to find a way to replace that.
Our furniture is gone. We have nowhere to sit. We have no table to eat at. We have nowhere to sleep.
Our dishes are gone. We have no utensils. We have no pots or pans. All of our kitchen stuff is gone. They made off with a brand new Keurig I got Nick for Christmas.
Bedspreads, curtains, towels, cleaning supplies, two tvs, and a projector, a brand new vacuum I got for Christmas. All of our Christmas presents we got from family. Childhood photos. My grandparents’ bible, artwork from friends that are no longer with us, things my dad gifted me before he passed…Nick’s comic books. Important documents. Our entire lives were in that truck. Clothes, shoes…everything is gone. We are so tired, our bodies are so worn from moving boxes that took someone minutes to steal.
We need to replace everything that was in the truck. Unfortunately we can’t replace the sentimental things. The person/people that stole it will probably toss those things because they hold no value to them. It’s our memories and our life. Whoever did this will never fully grasp how much they hurt us.
We could use all the help we could get. Nick and I have spent years building up the things we had. We’ve both been through hell and have had to start over a few times. We never imagined we would have to do it again. The only things we have are our phones and the clothes we had with us. Luckily, I had a small suitcase and two pairs of shoes. Nick had the clothes on his back. Please. Please help us replace the things we lost. We can’t even sleep at our new apartment because we don’t even have beds. Even our food from our pantry was in the Uhaul. We are at a complete loss
