Help us replace black mold contaminated travel trailer!

Donation protected
Friends, we need help. Our Jayco, the travel trailer that Jacob is living and traveling in, is covered with black mold. Jacob found it while repairing a soft spot. Upon investigation, the black mold extends the length of the subfloor and presumably up the walls. The whole thing needs to be gutted. The previous owner did not disclose the water damage, but we won't sell it knowing it's like this, so we're out $$$.

We have had an unbelievable amount of hardship for the last two years, including my (Rebecca's) health issues, which have led to my inability to travel. Even if I improve, I'll never travel full-time again, which is why we are semi-permanently parking our 5th wheel for me to live in while Jacob travels for work in our smaller travel trailer. As such, having a second travel trailer is not a luxury; it's a necessity. We were counting on the Jayco, and for it to be "totaled" by mold is a huge blow.

Jacob has been a rock while my health has declined and many other ongoing hardships, but the stress is starting to get to him. He needs relief, not more hardship. This couldn't have come at a worse time. Our finances are drained, and medical bills have ruined our credit. We can't afford this, but Jacob has to work. As such, he is planning to live in a travel trailer covered in black mold and just leave the windows open. He could get very sick from the mold or the cold. I can't let this happen without giving GoFundMe a try.

The more we raise, the more dependable of a travel trailer we can purchase. Having something dependable will provide incalculable peace of mind and protection from further stress-related loss of health. Traveling with constant breakdowns and repairs is unbelievably stressful and hard on the health. Jacob needs relief. I'm posting this over the weekend while he's at work because the idea of a GoFundMe has him just about as stressed as the mold.

Please help us replace the Jayco with something safe and dependable! But only if you comfortably can. Thank you, much love to all!

Edited to add:

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated!! Our hearts are warmed, truly!

Jacob is blown away and said to thank everyone on his behalf!! He also let me know he would rather gut and rebuild the Jayco than replace it. With that in mind I'm going to rest from actively promoting this fundraiser while we ascertain costs.

Many have reached out with concerns, so let me say that we will be okay. Jacob has set up a tent and seems to be doing well with leaving the windows open. We have set up a petri dish to measure how toxic is the mold. We're going to get some estimates on getting the work done but Jacob may do it himself and/or hire a helper. It's a big job for one person without a workshop. I'll keep you posted.

Although finances are currently drained we look forward to building our savings once Jacob heads out west in January. He has been such a rock while I have not been able to work. Thank you again everyone for helping us get past this hurdle!! We were just starting to feel better about things when this happened. You all know how that goes! Life! Thank goodness for each and every one of you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts
