My husband (Jacob) and I (Emily) were in a horrific car crash that completely destroyed our camper and almost ended our lives on January 9th. It's a miracle we survived!
We were on a long road trip with our 2 beloved cats. We drove from Tennessee all the way to Washington state to visit my husband's family for Christmas and we were in the midst of traveling back home when this happened...
We thought we lost our cats for good...thought they died on impact.
We were in the middle of the Nevada desert, traveling Southbound on I-95 near Goldfield when the accident occurred.
We were both injured and I had to be life flighted to Las Vegas alone as it was too far to drive by ambulance. I suffered 2 fractured vertebrae. My husband had minor injuries, some deep cuts all over his body and hands, but nothing too serious.
My husband had to stay with the rv while they towed it all away, which is costing us $7K.
A few incredible volunteers have spent the last month looking for our babies and just 3 days ago they caught them on camera! Both cats are alive and have found each other!
It was a miracle they survived!
They have spent a lot of money out of pocket to help us and we are in too much debt from the wreck to help pay them back.
The volunteers have had to camp out in the cold, windy desert to be with the traps and replace the batteries in the cameras every day.
It is costing them so much in gas, food, and resources to be out there this long.
There's an animal control officer who has sacrificed so much of her time to selflessly help us, along with a few cat tracking/rescue ladies, and a couple others who, out of the kindness of their hearts, are helping us day and night.
We are doing this for the rescuers, it all will be added together to be split between them!
We have been glued to the cameras every night, watching every movement, waiting for the kitties to be captured and brought home safely.
I am unable to fly back to Nevada in my condition and due to my doctor's orders, with the fractures in my vertebraes it's too risky for me to fly right now.
My husband was able to fly back out there after helping me fly home in pain. He also had to rent a car to drive out to the desert again, he's going to try and stay as long as he can, but we can't afford to rent the car for very long. Hopefully he's able to stay long enough to reunite with our scared babies.
This money will not go to me or my husband at all! We will go in debt to bring the cats back home.
All I can do is watch the cameras from my bed and pray they are captured soon so these selfless angels can rest and finally go home and back to their jobs that they've been missing.
Anything you could do to help is greatly appreciated...All of the money raised will go to the volunteers!!
We just want our cats home safe and to pay back these selfless angels for their time and efforts!
Thank you!
Neko and Teto, our beloved boys.
