Dear friends and to whoever caring person reading this,
Some of you may have seen on the news, my home country (Philippines) was struck by super typhoon Odette (international name - Rai). The entire island Bohol where I grew up and where my mother still lives was severely affected.
I am thankful that she and my aunt are well but her house is greatly damaged. I haven't been able to talk to her because the power plants are damaged so no electricity and very limited phone connection until now.
My mother is 60 years old and lives with my deaf/mute aunt which she takes care of.
My mother has very little to no income. She doesn't have the funds to pay for the repair of the house because insurance in the Philippines is only a privilege for the rich.
Almost her entire roof was blown away by the typhoon and there is water damage to most of her stuff.
I was able to secure some photos of my mother's house from my sister in law where you can see the current situation. We will update with more photos as soon as possible.
I feel helpless being a thousand miles away with limited contact but I want to do whatever I can to expedite the repairs of her house before another typhoon hits.
I know it's crazy times but I'm knocking on your kind hearts for support, because we are unable to pay for the repairs by ourselves alone. A small amount will go a long way.
Thank you so much for your support.
Scarlet & Frans
