My family and I are facing a critical situation with our home. After a tornado a few years ago, we made an insurance claim for roof damage, but the adjuster didn’t think there was enough damage to replace it. Recently, while trying to sell our home and relocate, an inspector discovered mold in the attic. When I removed the drywall and insulation, I found rotting wood, more mold than expected, and even minor holes in the rafters. Roofing companies have told us the damage has spread much faster than we thought, and now we’re looking at extensive repairs.

The funds raised will help us pay for a new roof, remove the mold, and reinstall insulation and drywall. Thankfully, we don’t have black mold yet, but if we can’t repair things soon, it could become a serious health risk. I run a small daycare from home, and having this much damage could force me to close, putting the children I care for at risk and threatening my family’s livelihood. The rotting wood and mold are near my daughter and granddaughters’ rooms, and I worry every day about their health and safety.
