Yesterday was supposed to be a wonderful family day. My mom came into town to visit, and for the first time in a long time I pushed through my anxiety and spent the day out with my husband, our daughters, and my mom. We enjoyed lunch together, browsed World Market, stopped at Barnes & Noble, and ended the evening with a family movie night. Then everything changed. During our movie, we heard a loud crash outside our home. A driver struck our parked SUV before continuing down the street and hitting our neighbor’s vehicle as well. They fled the scene before anyone could stop them.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, and we’re incredibly grateful for that. Our amazing neighbors came outside immediately, helped us identify the vehicle and driver, and gave statements to the police. We filed a police report and opened a claim with our insurance company right away. While insurance is helping with the repairs, we are responsible for paying our deductible before repairs can begin. Unfortunately, that’s money we simply don’t have available right now.
