My family and I rely on having two cars to get to and from our jobs. There are four of us in the house who are employed—my mom, my older brother, my sister, and me. We all contribute to rent, bills, and other household expenses, so every paycheck matters. Out of nowhere, and with no warning signs, one of our vehicles’ transmission failed while I was driving on the freeway back home. The cost of replacing the transmission is something we are not even close to being able to afford, and it’s put us in a really tough spot.

Having reliable transportation is essential for our family. Without both cars, it’s nearly impossible for all of us to get to work on time, and we risk losing our jobs if we can’t make it. On top of that, not having a backup vehicle in case of an emergency adds even more stress to our situation. We’re doing everything we can to stay afloat, but this unexpected repair is more than we can handle right now.
