My partner and I have been homeless for 3 years now, living in our cars. My partner's car needed repairs over the winter and while we were saving up for repairs, someone stole their catalytic converter. Now I've been driving the both of us to work when I can and they're on the bus when I can't. I'm borrowing money every paycheck just to cover bills because of all our debt and we're just trying to get back on our feet. We're both working full time but just don't make enough to afford bills, food, and repairs. My own car has repairs we've been putting off as long as we can but now it's breaking down every couple of days, leaving us in jeopardy of losing our jobs if we can't get to work.
My car needs a new MAF sensor, brakes, and has a TPS issue that doesn't trip an obd-II code, but does set off the tire pressure indicator. The transmission slips every now and then and the brake booster needs to be pulled on by hand or foot to disengage the brakes sometimes.
My partners car had an emissions problem the mechanic said could be caused by one of many issues and that they would have to go through one repair at a time with a process of elimination. That and the catalytic converter.
