In March, my mother, Carla, suffered a major stroke and was diagnosed with global aphasia, a condition that affects her ability to communicate and understand language. It’s been a long road, but she’s made incredible progress since that day. While her neurologist hasn’t cleared her to live alone just yet, we’re hopeful that with time and continued support, she’ll regain more independence.

While she recovers, Carla has been staying with her son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Kelsey Walker. Eventually, when she’s strong enough to live on her own again, she’ll return to her camper, which has always been her home. Unfortunately, last year a tree fell on it during a storm and caused serious damage. On top of that, the trailer has a number of other issues that now make it unlivable in its current state.

Here are the major problems we need to fix:

Aaron will be doing all of the repairs himself to save on labor costs, but we are still facing significant expenses for the supplies and materials needed to make the trailer safe and livable again. Unfortunately, our funds are already stretched thin with Carla’s medical care and every day living expenses.
