In Loving Memory of Rickey

Rickey was truly a pillar of his community—someone who gave his whole heart to the people around him. Whether it was his family, friends, or even a stranger in need, he showed up. Always.

He had a gift for uplifting others, putting their needs before his own. In the darkest moments, he was there—with a hug, kind words, and quiet strength. Rickey loved fiercely and unconditionally, often at the expense of his own comfort. He didn’t just show up—he gave 110%, even when we told him to sit down.

As a coach, mentor, and leader, Rickey inspired so many—sometimes even when he didn’t want to be in the spotlight. He was a phenomenal son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, partner, and an amazing stepfather to two little girls who love him dearly. He gave them stability, laughter, and unconditional love, and they adored him in return. He was a kind soul with an open heart, he welcomed people into his home and into his life without hesitation.

After long days of work, he stayed up late to teach his friends how to drive—surviving a few close calls, including that infamous moment with the green van. Rickey had a unique ability to form deep, lasting connections with people. A true social butterfly, he made meaningful friendships wherever he went.

He was endlessly talented—a musician, athlete, gamer, weeb, manga-loving bookworm, and an impressive cook (and no, it wasn’t just ramen). Through even the hardest times, Rickey found a way to make us all laugh. He was always up for shenanigans and snacks—two of his favorite pastimes.

Resourceful, stubborn, and incredibly loyal, he always made time for the people he cared about. Honest to a fault and deeply empathetic, Rickey would give you the shirt off his back—unless it was his North Face jacket, which Malika still couldn’t get from him. But he would give you a hot meal or even a ride across the country (yes, literally).

And in true Rickey fashion, he even stole one of his best friend’s looks—locs and glasses—because why not?

Rickey wasn’t just loved—he was unforgettable. He made us laugh, taught us lessons, lifted us up, and left a permanent mark on every life he touched.

Now, his family needs help honoring his memory and the lasting impact he made in this world. Any support, stories, or love shared in his name means more than words can express.
