In Loving Memory of Jacky Hoang
September 4, 1993 – August 20, 2025

With heavy hearts and profound devastating sadness, we announce the passing of Jacky Hoang, who left this world far too soon on August 20, 2025, today would’ve marked his 32nd birthday. Jacky would not want us sad and instead would like us to celebrate his life instead.

Born on September 4, 1993 in Sacramento, California, Jacky brought joy, laughter, and light into the lives of all who knew him. Even as a kid he was mischievous and funny (always playing pranks) and as he grown older his love of pranks did not wane. He had a heart of gold—always putting others before himself, always ready to help a friend, a stranger, or a loved one in need. His kindness and generosity were only matched by his sharp wit and infectious sense of humor.

To his family, Jacky was more than a son, brother, uncle, cousin or godfather—he was the life of the party, the one who could make anyone laugh even in the darkest times. He was the “joker of our family”, the spontaneous spirit who loved adventure, good company, and a good time. Whether he was playing pool (billiard) or pulling off wild trick shots, playing games like Mario cart or smash brothers (though never handling losing well, we call him a sore loser when it got competitive ), watching anime (don’t call it cartoon or he will fight you), “going to pickleball university”, or just cracking jokes with friends, Jacky’s presence was impossible to ignore. He loved his online games especially because he was great at it to the point he reserved bragging rights. His love of cooking is shown in the many videos he would share with love ones everyday as well as his love of silly dances to lighten any mood. Wherever he went, people remembered him—and more often than not, remembered his name and laughter. He loved telling everyone his name is Jacky like JackieChan but with a y ( using his finger to spell y in the air for emphasis). His sense of humor is unmatched as everyone he meets leaves with a smile on their face be it a friend or a complete stranger.

He is survived by his loving mother, Muoi; his devoted father, Vinh; his siblings: older brother Kiet, older sisters Chan and Janet, and younger sister Sophia, all of whom he adored and shared countless cherished memories with. Family was very important to Jacky as he was the glue that kept us together.

Jacky’s ability to make others feel seen, heard, and loved was unmatched. As someone once said about him:

“They love that he was so kind and funny. Not afraid to talk back to us, not get butthurt, and always laughing with us.”

““Jacky had a passion for cooking food. He makes it fun and was very creative. He gained his knowledge and experiences from working at several family restaurants.”

His sister Sophia shared this beautiful tribute:

“There’s so much I want to share about my brother. Jacky is one of the most big-hearted people I know. He cares so deeply about his loved ones and can never fail to make us laugh. He has also taught and shown me a lot growing up. I felt like a grown-up when I was hanging out with him because he always treated me like I was older than I was—when really I was just a little girl hanging out with her favorite big brother. One of my favorite memories is watching 2000s movies with him, and these moments will always be cherished. I’ll forever be grateful for the time we shared, and I will always miss my big brother.”

Jacky’s life, though short, was one filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, strength, and deep, unwavering love for those lucky enough to know him. While our hearts ache from this loss, we find comfort in knowing that Jacky’s spirit lives on in every story told, every laugh shared, and every memory cherished.

You will be deeply missed and forever remembered. You left a hole in all our hearts that won’t ever be filled. Rest in peace, my little brother Jacky. Your light will never fade.

Below are two links: first link is to upload any photos or videos you might have that you would like to share with us. Second is a link for any support you would like to extend to our parents.

And lastly, if you would like to direct message me any photos or videos you have because the link isn’t working for you, that is an option as well. Please refrain from asking my family or myself what happened. A small intimate funeral was held on August 30th, 2025. We would like some privacy to mourn and grieve but will be holding an official Chinese funeral/wake for Jacky later in the month with an invite extended to all his family and friends.
