My family and I have called the same cabin on the same farm our home for over 15 years. It’s where we’ve built our lives and cared for our beloved animals. Without any prior notice, we received a text message from our landlords saying they plan to renovate the farm and need us out in just 60 days. We had no time to plan or save, and the news has left us overwhelmed and anxious about what comes next.

This sudden move is especially challenging because we also rent two dog boarding kennels on the property, where we raise our dachshunds and Irish Wolfhounds. Most of these animals have only known this place as their home. Along with our dogs, we also care for chickens, ducks, geese, and cats—all of whom will need to be relocated with us. To make matters more difficult, my work is currently slow, making it even harder to cover the unexpected costs of moving and finding a new place.
