The Mercy Hospital for Women Family Hub offers short stay accommodation

to parents whose babies are in the special care nursery or neonatal

intensive care unit.

At Mercy Hospital for Women, the combined nurseries care for babies who

are born unwell or too early (prematurely), as well as those babies born in

regional Victoria who need intensive care. Over 1,300 premature and sick

infants are cared for at Mercy Hospital for Women each year.

At Mercy Hospital for Women there are 61 cots made up of 28 Neonatal

Intensive Care Unit cots and 33 Special Care Nursery cots. We are one of just

four Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Victoria.

The Family Hub offers basic amenities to up to eight parents at any one time,

including bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen facilities, as well as a shared

space for communal relaxation and connection. There is also an outdoor

play area for older siblings of babies in Mercy Health's care.

Those who access the Family Hub are most often the parents of the most

unwell or premature babies and who need a place to be close to their

children while they are in hospital.

The Hub also prioritises families from lower socio-economic groups who

may not have the funds to pay for their own accommodation near the Hospital.

Vasi Design's Contribution

We are designing the space free of charge and donating several pieces of artwork and furniture for the space.

Our team will also be co-ordinating delivery and installation

Oak Capital’s Contribution

Oak Capital has been a proud sponsor of the Mercy Health Foundation for

over 2 years and has donated over $100,000 in funds to the Foundation that

has included new equipment for NICU, and more.

Their new project involves upgrading and remodelling the Family Hub – It is

currently in construction and will be completing early December 2023.

good will in providing items to fill the new Family Hub space, OR helping achieve our goal to furnish the space with beautiful new pieces by donating funds to the cause.
