A few weeks ago, our 2 y/o Sphynx Cat, Orion had gotten into our fishing bag and swallowed fishing line. It tore through his intestines trying it's best to pass through, while also wrapping his intestines into a ball allowing him to suffer. This resulted in emergency- life saving surgery. The Vets had told us this was one of the worst cases of intestinal blockage (obstruction) they had ever seen. As he underwent surgery, the vets were unsure if he would make it through, as they had to remove almost half of his intestines due to severe damage. He then spent 5 days in the hospital recovering, still unsure if he would survive this.

Without our knowledge of what was happening to him, we had first brought him to a well known chain vet (will exclude their name) when he started showing signs of vomiting, peeing outside the litter box, hovering over his water bowl, and not wanting our attention. Said chain Vet had told us he was severely dehydrated and performed IV fluids for 2 days- 2 rounds. No X-rays were ever taken. This costed us precious time and money.

When Orion was still not acting like himself after 2 rounds of fluids from said chain vet, I decided to get a second opinion at a trusted vet in our area. Upon bringing Orion to Pet Calls Animal Hospital, they performed x-rays, and determined he needed to be rushed into surgery.

Luckily, our boy is still with us and is recovering quietly at home. It will be a long road of recovery as he had lost more than half his weight (6lbs). We are now struggling to catchup on bills after these outrageous costs.

There was no question whether or not we would save our baby, we did what we had to in the moment. And now we are asking for your help!!!
