Earlier this month, my partner and I experienced something we never thought would happen to us. I received a call from someone claiming to be from USAA’s fraud team. The caller ID and phone number matched the real company, so despite a few red flags, I believed I was speaking with a legitimate representative. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a scam, and by the end of the call, all the money in our account was gone. Our bank has just resolved this in our favor on 12/16/25. We only received a portion of what we lost however, so I'll be updating the goal. This has been a huge lesson for us, but it’s also been a devastating blow, especially during the holiday season. Not only were we planning to get new tires for both our vehicles, but we were just starting to rebuild our savings after a tough year. Now, we’re facing the reality of having to cover rent, car insurance, our phone bill, and groceries without the safety net we worked so hard to build. The rest of the money that was taken was meant for emergencies and future plans, and losing it all at once has left us feeling vulnerable and overwhelmed. We are humbling ourselves by reaching out for help. Any shares and any amount would be greatly beneficial to help us get back on our feet. We appreciate any and all help—there’s absolutely no pressure to donate, and sharing is free! Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and we hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful and happy holiday season.
