Help Us Recover from an Unimaginable Crisis!

Hi, my name is Patrick Petersen, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult moments of my life. I’m 25 years old, a college graduate, and have been working in customer service since 2018. Just a few days ago, on May 9th, 2025, I married the love of my life, Beck Hilliard—my rock, my inspiration, and my greatest source of strength. Beck is 29 years old, a former baker, and now works in medical data entry. We were ready to start this new chapter together, but within days, life threw us into an overwhelming crisis.
On Thursday, a sewer line burst in our apartment, flooding our home with raw sewage. The bathroom, carpets, and walls were severely damaged. The smell, the hazardous conditions, the ruined belongings—it was devastating. The apartment complex provided temporary housing, but the plumbers’ repairs are still not approved, and every time someone in the building runs water, the sewage continues to leak into our unit.
Then, on Friday, I lost my job due to downsizing, adding another layer of stress to an already unthinkable situation. To make things even harder, we were already late on rent this month, and without help, we face eviction unless we can cover the legal fee ($160) and past-due rent ($1,060) by tomorrow.
Our renter's insurance requires a $7,500 deductible, making recovery impossible without financial assistance. We’re doing everything we can—cleaning nonstop, searching for jobs, finding resources—but it’s not enough. On top of our past-due rent, we also have June’s rent of $1,060, basic necessities, laundry, cleaning supplies, and a Wi-Fi hotspot for Beck’s remote job and my job search.
We’re newlyweds trying to stay strong for each other. Beck has been my guiding light through every hardship, and I look up to them for their kindness, resilience, and courage. Despite everything, we’re staying hopeful—but we can’t do this alone.
If you’re able to help in any way—whether through financial aid, resources, or simply words of encouragement—we would forever be grateful. Every little bit helps us work toward rebuilding our lives after this devastating setback.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your support means everything to us.
