Right before Christmas, our family experienced a heartbreaking loss that words can barely describe. This wasn’t just a house this was our mom’s home. The place she built, loved, and left behind for us when she passed. We worked hard to keep it up, to protect it, and to hold onto it because it was one of the last physical pieces of her still with us. It carried her memories, her love, and her presence. In a devastating fire, that home is now gone.

In the process, my sibling and my nephews lost everything from clothes, shoes, beds, toys, personal keepsakes, and the sense of safety every child deserves. To experience this loss at any time would be painful, but for it to happen right before Christmas has made it especially heavy. What should have been a season of warmth, joy, and togetherness has turned into survival and heartbreak.

We are beyond grateful that everyone made it out safely that is truly a blessing but now they are left with nothing and are forced to start over from scratch.
