On the night of the tornado, everything changed for my family and me. Around 10:15pm, the storm hit the side of our house, tearing away our carport, damaging part of our attic, and destroying the main door we use every day. The driveway was blocked by debris, making it impossible for me to get my kids to school or go to work . my husband is disabled and It’s been overwhelming trying to figure out how to recover from this disaster with so few resources.
Right now, our most urgent need is to get the roof and side of the house temporarily tarped. There are holes that let in the cold and heat, and I’m worried about our electricity and gas bills getting even higher as the temperatures keep changing. I also need help with our electricity bill, since I haven’t been able to work and can’t return until the driveway is cleared. And I’m doing everything I can to keep my family safe and comfortable while we get back on our feet.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read our story. Please share our fundraiser—any donation at all would help tremendously. Even just getting the house covered and protected from the weather, or help with cleanup and repairs, would mean the world to us. We’re blessed and grateful that nobody was hurt, and any support you can give would mean everything to our family.
