My name is Anthony, and I’m reaching out for help after a heartbreaking experience my family and I just went through. With Christmas right around the corner, my wife and I had saved all year to make the holidays special for our two boys. We decided to take a short break and stayed at a hotel in Charlotte to get some rest before heading home. Unfortunately, while we were sleeping, someone broke into our car in the hotel parking lot. They smashed the window, damaged the frame, and took everything—Christmas gifts, clothes, and the money we had saved for the holidays. There was glass everywhere, and the shock of seeing our hard work and plans taken away was overwhelming.

This incident has turned our lives upside down. I’ve had to take time off work to try and get the window fixed, which is even harder now that winter is here and work is already scarce. The money that was stolen was everything we had set aside for Christmas, and it’s been difficult to explain to our boys why things are different this year. We trusted that our car would be safe while we rested, but instead, we were left feeling vulnerable and taken advantage of.
