This past weekend has been devastating. Our beloved little shop—a safe, creative, and welcoming space for so many in our community—was broken into during the early hours of 12th July 2025.
The impact has been more than just financial. Emotionally, we are heartbroken.
Our beautiful antique door, original to the old factory building, was forced open and severely damaged. It’s a unique piece of our history and simply can’t be replaced like-for-like.
Money was taken from the till... and, heartbreakingly, even from a little girl’s purse that had been left in our lost and found. That hit especially hard.
We are reaching out for support to help us:
- Repair and replace the damaged door using local, independent tradespeople (as we always do)
- Improve the shop’s security to protect this space for everyone
- Replace the money that was stolen so we can continue to run without disruption
- Install a modern, reliable alarm system—again, using trusted local professionals
While we do have insurance, making a claim would significantly increase our premiums, which we simply can’t afford as a small independent business. It’s a cost we would be burdened with for years to come, and we’re already doing everything we can to keep going.
In the days since the break-in, we’ve been overwhelmed by kindness. So many of you have sent messages of support or dropped in to check on us—and several people have even offered financial help directly.
Because of this incredible outpouring of love, we’ve chosen to set up this GoFundMe so that any support can be received transparently and with full accountability. We want to be completely open about where donations are going and ensure every penny is used to rebuild, secure, and continue our mission—bringing creativity, care, and community to this special space.
If you’re able to help—even just by sharing this fundraiser—we would be endlessly grateful.
Thank you so much for being part of our community and helping us move forward with love, not fear.
— With love and thanks from all of us at the shop
