Hi, my name is Krista. I never thought I’d find myself in a situation where I’d need to ask friends, family, and even strangers for help, but right now I’m doing everything I can to support my family—emotionally and financially—after a drunk driver’s actions left us without reliable transportation.

Recently, my kids and I were involved in a car accident caused by an extremely intoxicated driver. We were just minutes from our home when the driver, who was backed into a driveway with his headlights on, suddenly pulled straight out across the road into another driveway—right in front of us. I had no time to react, and the impact was immediate and unavoidable. Not only was the driver under the influence, but he was residing illegally in the U.S. with no vehicle registration or insurance. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but as you can imagine, we were terrified and deeply shaken by the experience.

My car, on the other hand, suffered major damage and is not safe to drive. This is the vehicle I rely on every single day to get my children to and from school, sports practices, appointments, and every errand a household depends on. As a mother supporting my children on a single income, my budget is so tight that I simply can’t afford to repair the car or buy a new one at the moment. With the rising cost of living, I had to make the difficult decision to switch from full coverage to liability earlier this year. That decision has now left us without transportation, and no way to earn extra income through Door Dash, which helps with extra expenses.

While I am trying to remain steadfast and optimistic, truthfully this situation has left me overwhelmed and in need of help. Any help, donations, shares, or prayers truly mean the world to us.
