On March 28th, my husband and I were driving home after a long day of work when our lives changed in an instant. A young driver, speeding at over 100mph, crashed into us from behind on the highway. The impact blew out our wheels, sent us spinning across four lanes of traffic, and left our car completely totaled. To make matters worse, the driver didn’t stop and went on to hit another car further down the road. This was the first serious accident either of us had ever experienced, and it turned our world upside down in seconds.
Our car was not just our only mode of transportation—it was our lifeline and how we made a living. Without it, we’ve lost the ability to get to work and handle daily responsibilities. The crash also sent my husband, Charlie, straight to the ER, where doctors discovered he had suffered severe spinal injuries. His L4-L5 disc is completely herniated, L5-S1 is severely bulging, and he’s now dealing with spinal stenosis. The pain is unbearable, and he faces a long road of medical appointments, physical therapy, and possibly surgery. His appointment with a spinal surgeon is coming up soon, and the medical bills are already piling up.
Living in the suburbs without a car and with injuries has made everything so much harder. The insurance company is still investigating and hasn’t provided a rental car, leaving us stranded. We’re reaching out for help to cover the cost of a rental car so we can get to Charlie’s appointments, physical therapy, and hopefully work enough to pay our rent. Any support you can offer will help us stay afloat and not fall behind on rent or miss critical care. Thank you for considering helping us during this incredibly difficult time.
