Volveremos A Sonreír Juntos

On Dec 11, our son was the victim of a savage attack while he volunteered at Christmas fair in our hometown of Choluteca, Honduras. Caring for toddlers while they jumped on inflatable bouncers, was his assignment when perpetrators protesting the government attacked throwing explosive devices, one of which hit my son in the face. My son, lost his left eye, his nose, parts of his lips and jaw. Miraculously, though in critical condition given the severity of his injuries he’s stable, lucid and alert. Our son’s facial disfiguration is something doctors in Honduras have never seen and where specialized reconstructive surgery is nonexistent. Through Honduras’ state department, attending doctors with links to international medical outreach programs and hospitals are trying desperately to find a hospital in the USA that could take our son in for extensive reconstructive surgery that could hopefully offer him a chance to normal life. Our kid just turned 18, a high school graduate, smart, funny was excited to begin his first year of college. He now communicates by writing notes; he says, he’s afraid but that he’s also experienced god through all this, that he doesn’t mind “not looking handsome” as long as he’s able to go to college, work, love, live... Though he’s aware of it, our son doesn’t know the extent of his plight- His spirit however remains untouched, strong, positive, hopeful... Please help us offer our son, Wilson, a chance to smile, live and thrive again! We kindly appreciate all your prayers and donations, but if don’t have the monetary means but happen to read our petition, please help spread the word- any information and or contacts to News outlets, hospitals and specialists in Facial reconstruction, Craniofacial Prosthetics, Ophthalmology and Ocular Prosthesis, Mandibular/Dental Prosthetic and Oral surgery, that might see it in their hearts to help us- would be greatly appreciated!
