Help Tommy Baggett Rebuild After Hurricane Devastation

Dear friends, family, colleagues, and kind strangers,

My name is Kate Smallwood and I'm reaching out from the DC area in support of my dear friend and fearless leader at Scouting America, Kristen Garcia, after an unimaginable tragedy. Kristen's father, Tommy Baggett, has lost everything due to the recent Hurricane Helene that tore through Florida. His home, all of his possessions, and many cherished memories were swept away, leaving him with nothing.

But the loss of material things pales in comparison to the terrifying ordeal he endured during the storm. When the hurricane struck, Mr. Baggett was alone in his home as floodwaters began rising at an alarming rate. In complete darkness, without power or communication, he watched helplessly as his house flooded around him. For 48 long hours, search and rescue teams couldn’t reach him. Trapped and unsure of whether help would come, he was forced to wait it out, all while dealing with his ongoing chronic health issues.

Miraculously, he survived the ordeal, but the trauma of that night, combined with the loss of everything he owned, has left him struggling both physically and emotionally. Now, as he begins the long journey of rebuilding his life, we are asking for your help.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to assist with essential needs, including:

- Finding temporary housing and starting the process of rebuilding

- Replacing basic necessities like clothing, furniture, and personal items

- Covering medical expenses and ensuring access to care for his health conditions

- Providing food, toiletries, and other daily essentials

This has been an incredibly hard time for Mr. Baggett and his family, who are tirelessly doing everything they can in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene to help their beloved father/grandfather, and any contribution you can make will help lighten the burden.
