When a devastating fire tore through a local farm, it left behind heartbreak—and 11 lives in need of a second chance.

Two adult pigs managed to survive the fire and were taken in by the SPCA. What no one knew at the time was that one of the pigs was pregnant. Safe from the flames but still reeling from the trauma, she gave birth to nine piglets at the shelter.

We have stepped in to foster and rehabilitate all 11 pigs—two brave mamas and their nine fire-born babies—and now we need your help.

Why We Need You

Trauma during pregnancy can have lasting effects. When a pregnant pig experiences something as terrifying as a fire, her piglets are impacted, too. Studies show that in-utero trauma can lead to:

To give these piglets the best shot at a calm, happy life, they’ll need hours of patient, trust-based socialization. That means hand-feeding, gentle handling, and force-free interactions to teach them that humans can be kind and safe.
