Help Us Rebuild: Rising From the Ashes of the Park Fire
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Supporters,
Our names are Brette Stout and Jayson Conty. Early Saturday morning we woke up to the devastating news that our beloved Peace Cabin, a place of dreams, tranquility, and cherished memories, was reduced to ashes in the massive California Park Fire. In just the span of 24 dreadful hours, we unfortunately lost everything. The fire swept through our hometown of Paynes Creek, located in the heart of Lassen National Forest, and completely demolished our property, its buildings - our home. We are reaching out to you, our community, to help us rebuild not just our home, but our lives.
The Peace Cabin, what we called our lost sanctuary, was home to my partner and I, our 3 dogs, 3 cats and flock of chickens. our property had just recently got solar put up, it had a full sized barn, and a chicken coup, along with a humble garden we got all of our food from, and a fully equipped music studio. We are so grateful to have gotten out safely, however we are now starting from ground zero.
The fire took more than just our physical possessions—it took a part of our souls. Our music studio, the heart of Brette's musical career, was completely destroyed. The many instruments and expensive equipment that were integral to her work and passion are now gone. This loss hits deeply, as working in the studio is her way of making money and sustaining our family.
We also lost our two vehicles, including our cherished Volkswagen Vanagon. This van was more than just a mode of transportation; it was a vessel for our dreams and adventures along the West Coast through the years. It carried us to countless beautiful places and held a piece of our journey in every mile. It was our home on wheels.
The fire claimed our clothes, essentials, and personal belongings. Our furniture, our dense library of treasured books, our artwork, and everything that made our house a home has turned to ash.
Despite the chaos, we are so thankful to have safely evacuated with our three dogs, three cats, and most of our chickens, including all of our newborn chicks.
All donations will be helping us towards building a new life for ourselves. Having lost everything, we must start all over again.
With the help of these donations we have been able to acquire:
- Wardrobes for the both of us
- A basic office set up to continue working.
- A 125cc motorbike to get around
- Fridge and cabinetry full of healthy foods
- Food, Litter, Toys, Etc., for the comfort of our fur babies
- Bathroom essentials and self-care items
- Peace of mind, that we are able to get whatever we may need
Your generosity will not only aid us in recovering our material losses but will also provide the emotional support we need to navigate this challenging time. We are deeply grateful for any assistance you can offer, whether it's a financial contribution or sharing our story with others who might be moved to help.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for considering supporting our journey to rebuild. Your compassion and support means the world to us, and we believe that with the help of our community, we can begin to rebuild our lives for the better.
