Help us rebuild our lives - Flood Damage Recovery

On Friday 29th August 2025 at 00:35 our lives were turned upside down when severe flooding hit Plymouth. Our basement flat held our entire lives and when 56mm of rain fell in 3 hours (42.3mm of that within a single hour) our flat reached waist deep in water. This water was grey water but also raw sewage that came up through our toilet and the burst drain in our garden.

We managed to escape by climbing out of our kitchen window, thankfully saving ourselves and also our pet rabbits however we lost 95% of our belongings and are now faced with the overwhelming challenge of rebuilding our lives.

We are now left with no safe place to live as our landlords insurance doesn’t cover flooding so repairs are unlikely. As well as this we have lost countless white goods, personal belongings, furniture and everything else that we owned. We still haven’t come to terms with what has actually happened and being left in limbo by not knowing where we can live is making this incredibly tough situation even more stressful.
