Help Us Rebuild Our Home After Devastating Damage
Donation protected
We never wanted to reach out for help, but we find ourselves in a desperate situation. We have been working tirelessly, both full time and part time jobs, just to make ends meet. Recently, we discovered a significant issue with our home—a soft spot in the kitchen floor that felt dangerously unstable.
After numerous contractors turned us away, we finally found one, who assessed the damage. What started as a $13,000 estimate quickly escalated to an overwhelming $80,000 after discovering extensive water damage and structural issues. The entire kitchen and bathroom were additions built onto the house many years ago; and unbeknownst to them there were no permits, no foundation, no proper support beams, anything that could have been wrong with it without being visible, was wrong. A hidden leak from a pipe, a pipe connected to the kitchen sink that was completely broken off, and a pipe that was connected to the dishwasher wasn’t connected to anything else resulting in all the used water being dumped right into the kitchen floor for years, unknown to anyone. To make matters worse, this part of the house was an addition built without a proper foundation, leaving it vulnerable and unsafe. It has led throughout the entirety of the first floor of our home, causing so much destruction.
We hoped for help from our insurance, but unfortunately, our claim was denied, leaving us to shoulder the entire financial burden. With mold making our home unlivable, we were forced to be split from our two dogs and rely on the help from some pretty incredible people. With us being out of the house for nearly a month, we are back in it. But the problems are not completely solved. We could not afford $80,000. We requested our contractors to requote us on the bare minimum to make our house live able again leaving us with a $47,000 personal loan with payments just as high as our mortgage.
This situation has taken a toll on us both physically and emotionally. After several suggestions and a lot of friends and family pushing for us to start a go fund me, we decided to try it out and hope for the best. ANY amount helps. But please, if you yourself are barely making ends meet please do not feel obligated to donate. Everyone goes through rough times and we hope someday we can repay the generosity that others have shown us through out this. Your support would mean the world to us during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
