I never imagined I would be creating a GoFundMe. If you know me, you know I am usually the one behind the camera telling the stories of others, documenting our community, and capturing moments that matter. This time, I am living the story. Like so many families in our community, our home was devastated by the flood. We have spent days cleaning out the mud, removing damaged belongings, and trying to save what we could. While we have made progress, the biggest challenge is still ahead of us: rebuilding our home.
We created this GoFundMe to help purchase the materials needed to rebuild, including sheetrock, insulation, flooring, lumber, doors, trim, paint, and everything else it takes to make a house feel like a home again. If you are a contractor, carpenter, electrician, plumber, or anyone with construction experience who is willing to lend a hand, your time and expertise would mean just as much as any donation. And yes, for those wondering, I did lose camera gear in the flood. While that is a difficult loss, it is not what matters most right now. My priority is rebuilding our home, creating a safe place for my family again, and taking the first steps toward moving forward. The equipment can be replaced someday. Right now, our home comes first.
Asking for help has never been easy for me. I have gone back and forth about creating this GoFundMe because I have always believed in figuring things out on my own. But I have also seen this community come together when people need it most. Today, we are the ones asking for that kindness. Whether you choose to donate, share this fundraiser, volunteer your time, contribute building materials, or simply keep our family in your prayers, every act of support brings us one step closer to rebuilding. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this difficult time. Your kindness, generosity, and prayers mean more than words can express. With gratitude, Javier and Family
