Help Us Re-Build our Greenhouse!

A few nights ago we had a really big and bold wind storm that whipped across the field and tossed our hoop house around like it was a ball of yarn. As I watched it roll, end over end, I saw pieces flying everywhere.

By the time it landed, it was a smashed up mess, with broken pipes and splintered wood. We went outside at 2 o'clock in the morning to slash the plastic so the crushed structure would stop catching wind like a sailboat sail.

When we were done, Erica and I looked out over the damage and both said, "Well, that's that," and we walked inside, both heavy with the idea that we would not be able to grow anything in that hoop house anymore.

This affects us in so many ways. Here, at Stony Hill Farm, we use the hoop house to grow incredible tomatoes, which we use to make salsas, hot sauces, and other delicious creations. We also use it for late Fall and early Spring greens.

This was going to be the first year that we were going to try our hand at small-scale community farming. But without that hoop house, we just don't have that ability.

So, even though this is so WEIRD for both of us, we are asking for your help to build a new hoop house.

With the cost of materials, as well as all of the people power we will need to help raise the roof, we're going to need about $900, and we need to do it soon. The growing season is steadily approaching and we'd like to have something in place by June.

Anything you can donate is like a gift, and we will be ever grateful to you for it. Salsas, hot sauces, incredible pestos, and other fresh, organic produce will be our way of saying thank you.

That and a huge party when we've rebuilt, to say thanks for all you've done.

Our community is so strong and filled with a sense of cooperation. Although we might not have all the money in the world, I know there is something in all of us that wants to help whenever we can.

Thanks so much!
