Dear friends, family, and compassionate neighbors,

My name is Marc Chambers, the eldest son of Lloyd and Sadie Chambers. I grew up in Maggotty, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. I am presently residing in the United States.

Today, I come to you with a heavy heart and a plea for help. My father Lloyd Chambers lost his home in Maggotty, St. Elizabeth in the recent hurricane. Melissa hit with such force that it not only ripped off the roof, but blew down walls. The damage is of such that my father can no longer find safe shelter there, and it will require rebuilding from the ground up.

My parents were community builders; this home was opened to many young people who came to live with us in order to attend school. It was a place where people often came for counsel and assistance. My father, who in good health spent much of his life to helping others, now faces this misfortune at a stage in his life when he is visually impaired and immobile. He urgently needs a structure that is conducive to his heath and security.

Our goal is to raise $35,000 for site preparation, clearing debris, grading and excavating foundation, and constructing retaining walls.
